No fewer than 200 golfers are expected to participate in the 2022 edition of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor’s Golf Cup scheduled to take off in Abuja on Dec. 3.
Osita Nwanisobi, CBN’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Thursday that the tournament which is in its 15th edition would hold at the IBB Golf and Country Club, Abuja as part of the apex bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Nwanisobi said the one-day tournament sponsored by the CBN in collaboration with the IBB Golf Club, would be played in a “stroke play – shotgun” format.
“This format will see all competing golfers teeing off at the same time from different points on the golf course,” he said.
The CBN spokesperson said that the bank remained devoted to the promotion and development of sports in the country with the annual sponsorship of the competition in line with its CSR.
According to Nwanisobi, the tournament will compete in eight categories of Men’s Category I (Handicap 0 – 14); Men’s Category II (Handicap 15 – 28) Gross (Men); Ladies’ Category I (Handicap 0 -20); and the Ladies’ Category II (Handicap 21 – 30).
Other categories are the CBN Staff category, CBN retired staff category, CBN guests’ category and the Veterans category for men and ladies.
