End of an era: Belgium’s golden generation crash out of World Cup

It is end of an era on Thursday as Belgium’s golden generation crashed out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a goalless draw with Croatia.

Belgium, second ranked team in the world and the third best side in the last world cup, paraded a squad dubbed ‘golden generation’ of the country.

Belgium needed to beat Croatia to go through to the knockout stage of the tournament after a shock 0-2 loss to Morocco.

But the European heavyweight collapsed and crashed out of the tournament in the group stage.

On 50th minute, Mateo Kovacic took a nice touch on the edge of the box as he met a pass and produced a shot towards the roof of the net, but was saved by the keeper.

Also Yannick Carrasco received a neat pass inside the box on 61st minute and instantly thumped the ball goalward, but a defender made a last ditch block to deny him.
