"I have to give props to Diablo Immortal Gold
Andre Abrahamian, an awesome designer at Blizzard working with us," said Gallerani, who operates at Vicarious Visions, the Tony Hawk 1+2 developer that has been recently become a full-time Blizzard support studio. "He moved into people's desks just like,'Hey, do you have anything left over?' Not only did we get the codebase, but we have a lot of the original assets. When you see the movie of Tyrael's wings in HD, they actually are the first model from the original Tyrael's wings.
Gallerani stated they had other resources pulled from a variety of sources. For example: 3D versions of this Lut Gholein market stalls used for advertising stills. From the first Diablo two people were turned into 2D sprites, however, Blizzard managed to recoup the 3D documents.
"Yes, info losses happen," Gallerani said. "I wasn't there exactly to understand what exact things vanished. But we still have the code. I meanthe game still gets patched, right, even after all the years" rounded up most that material until it started work on Diablo 2: Resurrected, but the first art assets really weren't vital because they remade"every single asset in the game," Fergusson said. Resurrected enables you to change between the classic images, which are untouched, and a completely new 3D engine. The cutscenes are entirely remade as well.
"Because we have original men and women who worked on [the cinematics], we can have a great deal of discussions about objective," Fergusson said. "We went with,'What would their intention be when they had the tools we have today?'" The code, more than the initial art assets, was vital for Diablo 2: Resurrected, which thankfully was not lost.
"If you dig in the code, there is Diablo 1 code in there. "That is what makes it have its character. The idea that the older code works the way that it does means you have the game that you have. If we were trying to change engines and reestablish it and we didn't have those intricacies of this old code, it wouldn't feel exactly the same. We are really really grateful that Cheap Diablo 2 Items
we've got what we have, because [players] may have that authentic experience."
